This is the 4,145th reblog or like of this image. That’s a popular post. The question is what fuels this seemingly perennial attraction towards violence inflicted upon the male body? It’s the stock in trade of the action film and like television programs which at least lend to their subjects a certain gelatinous stylisation (glistening sweat mixed with blood given the dignity of action). But then there is this raw image in no way stylised within the terms of documentary honesty. It is a young male body with its skin shredded, and which appeared on my dash among a flurry of flawless young female bodies in various states of being luxuriously caressed. This aspect of gender, which culture accepts and even encourages, is the one I have long found the most fascinating.
